Let me tell you something, there are a lot of really bad Transformer action figures out there for the average kiddie to buy. Sadly, unlike Americans, not all Transformers are created equal. That's why today I'm bringing you a Tad's Book of Tips and Tricks: How to buy a Transformer! You can feel free to use this for yourself, or if you are just a parent looking for that special birthday present. The first thing I look at when I buy a Transformer is which character it is. I like a few specific characters, primarily Optimus Prime. The second thing I look at is the back of the package. This usually shows both the vehicle and the robot forms of the Transformer. This is very important if the Transformer is in vehicle mode in the blister pack because it really stinks to transform him only to find that his robot mode is totally ugly. The third thing I look at is the proportions of the robot form. Now, this is VERY important because sometimes, due to the vehicle mode of the character, the proportions are gross. You don't want the torso to be too fat or the legs too long or skinny. Finally, don't be tricked by the price. Just because a figure is $40 does not mean that it is a good figure. Let's review.
Step 1: Know what character you/your child want(s)
Step 2: Look at the back of the package to check the aesthetics of the vehicle and robot modes
Step 3: Check proportions, character should look solid
Step 4: More expensive does not mean better toy!
