Hello fair readers. As many of you know, I hate Apple and all Mac products. I had a terrible experience last night with iTunes, and I'd like to compile a list of things to help convince you to NEVER buy from them again. Many of these are taken from my own personal experiences.
-My iPod-
This was where the hate began to brew. I got an iPod Mini when I went off to college. I thought that since everyone loved Apple so much, it would be a cool thing to have and a product that wouldn't let me down. I couldn't have been more wrong. Less than 6 months after purchasing this iPod Mini, it started to have severe battery issues. It just wouldn't charge, and it would turn off when it was fully charged for no reason. After consulting some Mac fanboys, the advice I was given was, "Oh man, it's old. You need to get a new one." WHAT?? I don't see a $150 purchase as a disposable item (but many Apple fans do). I'm so angry that Apple would release such a shoddy product. Sure, I could have called customer service and had a new iPod Mini sent to me, but I've heard stories of people going through up to six of the things. That doesn't solve the problem.
-Safari-
Where do I begin? This program sucks. It's the worst. My experience with this is a simple one. I wanted to print something from Safari. I hit the Apple key + P which I understand is the universal command to print. The Mac computer I was using wouldn't do it. How hard is it to print? I can do it on a PC fine any day of the week. After consulting different Apple fanboys, their advice was, "oh, Safari is terrible." Wait, what? I thought Apple was the god of all things computer. I thought they could do no wrong. Their DEFAULT web browser sucks even in the eyes of their died-in-the-wool fans? Huh...
-iTunes-
If Apple is so superior to Microsoft in every way, how come they can't figure out how to write iTunes so that it works flawlessly on a PC? That's right, because their morons. ITunes barely works on a PC, and when it does, it is super buggy. I've got a pocket full of examples on this, but I'll describe my two latest issues. The first is with the authorization process. I have had to authorize this PC twice. The last time was for no reason. I just tried to play music I had purchased ON THIS COMPUTER and it made me authorize it, thus using up one of my precious authorizations. And tell me this, why can't I re-download all the things I've purchased? Like on Xbox Marketplace, if I buy something and then delete it, I can just re-download it. On iTunes, you have to purchase everything again. I have no idea why. Oh wait, yes I do. Apple is only out there to rob us any way it can. Then the mother of all offenses occurred last night when I inserted a CD to import. My iTunes freaked out and made me choose an iTunes library, but it wouldn't let me choose my old one. I made a new one thinking I could just switch to my old one at any time. Big mistake. My old library is now gone. I still have all of my music, but now I'm going to have to add it all back to my library and sort through it yet again thus wasting hours of my time. I'll probably have to authorize this computer a third time too. The last kicker to this scenario was when I went to the Apple customer service page to find out if I could fix the problem. I guess I can, but when I click on the link for my problem, a blank page comes up. How helpful.
Why do I still use iTunes? Because I got an iPod for cheap, and that's the only way I know how to use it. It sucks. When this iPod breaks, I'm going to switch over to Zune because Microsoft has not yet wronged me.
Apple is a terrible company. Somehow they have tons of people fooled into thinking that their more expensive products are somehow better. Their mode of operations is like this, they release a product that sucks, but since they put their logo on it, elitists with money buy it. Then they release a new version of that product that sucks just a little less, and everyone throw their old Mac stuff away and gets the new thing. That keeps happening over and over until Steve Jobs is sleeping on a mattress sewn from your money. For instance, the first iPhone couldn't copy and paste in the web browser. What? Why not? Because Apple doesn't care enough to actually polish a product before release. They just want your money.
Apple, I compare you to a toilet. you're clean and white on the outside, but once you lift the lid, you're full of excrement. I would advise everyone to heed my advice to never support them. You've seen some examples from my life. Don't be blinded by the propaganda and the hype. Seriously, the iPad is just a glorified iPod Touch, and it can't even support Flash. Don't buy that or ANYTHING else from them. They can't stand behind their products. Apple is simply an Abercrombie and Fitch for computers. Severly overpriced ripped jeans, or in this case, overpriced computers. It's just a status symbol people. I guess my final piece of advice is that if you never grew up from sixth grade popularity politics, then Apple is for you.
