Let me tell you something dear reader, I have discovered something super fun! It is an art form called paper craft! It is where people craft things out of paper! Amazing! Here's how it works. You go online and find a sweet model you want to build. You print out that model on your computer printer. You then cut out all the pieces and put it all together! Here is one that I hope to do someday as an example. It is Metal Gear Rex from Metal Gear Solid.
Now, for those of you who just have a computer, the internet, a printer, some paper, color ink, and one hour of your time, check out Cubee Craft. I happened to see a commercial on Saturday morning cartoons this week featuring the Ninja Turtles Cubees, and I was hooked! They are a fun, relaxing, eye-crossing way to spend an hour, and you have a cool looking paper character when you are all done! I have only used printer paper thus far, and it works although the Turtles are a little flimsy. They still stand proud and savage on my desk though, so we're good. I am going to try cardstock this week, and I hope that the models will be a little more robust when they are complete. This is my latest hobby, and it is totally awesome. Feel free to join in the fun!
Update Salties, when you print on cardstock paper, be careful with what printer you use. I used my HP Deskjet printer, and it turned out great! I also tried a color Laserjet printer, and when you make the folds for the model, the color tends to come off on the creases.
